Girls, girls, girls!

I have been really inspired lately to paint some girls with some new backgrounds and using up some backgrounds that have been waiting for something to be added. Here are some of what was added:

I never really loved this background. I used a paper towel for texture but it always looked a bit rough to me. Now I really love it.

I like how the expression came out on this one. You never know how they will turn out. This one will likely get some words added later.

Initially the background was competing with her dress, I added some cream oil stick around her and I really like how she glows.

A week or so ago I had posted some Flower Girls on Facebook that were inspired by Juliette Crane. Here they are:

They are framed side by side in my room. Fun to have some of my art hanging up.

Documented Life Project -week 2

This week's prompt was to use Gesso, and the quote from Mary Shelley-"The beginning is always today". Here is my interpretation:

I used Gesso as a base and used several different stencils with spray inks for the background. Some gesso snuck into the background as well. Stabilo pencil to outline the girl. Pitt brush pen for the writting. I covered it with a matte varnish prior to doing the writting.

I also just finished my cover. It makes it feel more like a book with the cover done.

I'm using a handmade journal out of Fabriano hot press watercolor paper. I had made it for another class and my daughter was going to use this one but never did, so she graciously gave it back to me. Duct tape covers the binding edge.

Documented Life Project 2014 finished!

Yay! I finished my Documentd Life Project for 2014 and I'm on to 2015. Feels good to finish something! Here are my last pages that needed finishing:

Week 49- journal prompt was trace your hand

Week 52- journal prompt was to document a holiday tradition. Natalie and I always make cookies for our neighbors.

Last prompt was to do a page of something that started with the letter of your first name.

This year's project is The Documented Life Project 2015- The Journal. We will have weekly prompts on Saturdays. The theme for the month of January is how to approach the blank page. This week's prompt was to use book pages and to journal your Goal Keeper. Here is my first page of the year:

You can see some of the book pages showing through, especially at the bottom of the page, It's fun to see everyone's work. Tbis is a very supportive group. Join me, it's free!
